Viking - Character Design
These are three Viking siblings I designed for Brandon, the author and game developer of this story.
They are: Brynhilda, Einar and Erik.
This was, without any doubt, the most challenging client work I did in 2022. Since there were no cameras in the Viking age, I ended up watching over 10 hours of Viking history videos and gathered over 400! photos of museum items and historian people’s interpretations of how they would have looked. My interpretation isn’t 100%, but I did my best with the time I had.
Well then, Brynhilda is the strongest woman in their village and has a romantic and mature but relaxed personality.
Einar is the chief of the viking tribe and he was probably the most challenging of the three siblings to design.
Not only because of his brute force and constant tense posture, but I also wanted to show a bit of his sadness and traumas through his eyes.
Erik is the youngest of the three viking siblings, which made me relate to him.
He’s a sweet, big hearted but also an insecure type of person. He is almost as tall as Einar, but because of his poor posture due to his self-doubt, he seems much shorter.
