Lunch Break

I thought I was never going to finish this illustration, so I decided to just let it go instead. The most time consuming part was definitely cleaning the forest, as I was never satisfied with it. Oh well. I still feel that I’ve learned a lot from this piece, so that’s enough.

I made this with the intention of changing Stunted Wings’ banner art, so you can see how it turned out here.

I’ve tried making an illustration with a similar idea back in 2022 (which used to be banner 1) but at that time the concept was definitely out of my skill range and as the months passed by I started to really dislike it. It was so frustrating having it hanging there for 3 years, and even though this one is still “almost there, but not quite” it’s closer to what I was envisioning for the comic cover, so I’m happy with it (for now at least o_o’).

This is also a continuation of the environment series I started doing, to explore different scenarios from my comic, and I’m thinking I might do one more (maybe a simpler one this time –God help me–).

Songs I was listening to (a lot) while working on this:
– In the Kitchen – by Mree;
– Bird – by Billie Marten;
– Dream – by Priscilla Ahn;
– Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai (Volume 2) – by Kitaro (in special, the track: As the Wind Blows);
